Functional Job Analysis (Job Description Development)
Developed from a thorough Ergonomic Analysis that documents the activities and physical functional demands of specific jobs. It is utilized as validation of compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and other nondiscriminatory legislation.
Includes:
Job Title, Department, purpose and description
Objective determination of physical job demands using standardized assessment tools (i.e. Chatillon force gauge, grip/pinch dynamometers, range of motion goniometer, measuring tape, industrial scale).
Distinguish between essential and non-essential functions
Identify all needed qualifications, equipment/tools, training and personal protective equipment (PPE)
Identify comprehensive list of sensory and environmental factors

Ergonomic Analysis
Worksite evaluations are required by ADA law in order to perform post offer/post employment evaluations. It is also beneficial for job positions that are more susceptible to injuries and employee complaints of muscle soreness and pain.
Includes:
Review of job description
Objective measurement of job demands
Determine injury risk hazards using standardized ergonomic tools
Recommendations to reduce/eliminate identified injury risk factors
Post Offer Employment Testing
Helps to detect employees who have pre-existing conditions and/or are unable to perform relevant job specific activities. Post Offer Employment tests can be catered to specific job positions based on the Functional Job Analysis (Job Description).
Includes:
Medical History Questionnaire
Musculoskeletal screen to determine pre-employment baseline and any pre-existing limitations regarding joint range of motion, strength, and flexibility (baseline can be referenced down the road in the case of an injury to determine legitimate impairment)
Standardized functional assessment including lifting/carrying, static pushing/pulling
Job specific testing based on essential job functions from job analysis using actual/simulated equipment/materials
Pre-Employment Physical
Performed by Occupational Medicine Medical Provider to determine proper placement of employees and reasonable accommodation of qualified applicants.
Includes:
Medical Health History Review including past work-related injuries or illnesses
Current and Past Occupational Exposures
Vitals including height, weight, BP, temp
Vision Screening including color vision test
Hearing Test (whisper test)
Urinalysis
Physical Body Assessment including heart, lungs, chest, hernia, neurologic, etc.
Fit For Duty Testing
Fit for duty testing assists the employer in determining the worker’s ability to safely return to their job following injury or illness.
Includes:
Injury-specific musculoskeletal assessment with comparison to pre-employment baseline
Job specific testing as outlined in post-offer employment test
Review by occupational medicine physician to determine return to work recommendations
Reasonable accommodation recommendations as appropriate
